Las Vegas is about to get its annual overdose of nostalgia and noise when When We Were Young takes over the Festival Grounds on October 18–19. While much of the bill is banking on 2000s throwbacks, blink-182, Panic! at the Disco, Avril Lavigne etc, I Prevail are coming in as the modern heavyweight.
Formed in 2013, the Michigan metalcore outfit don’t carry the Hot Topic-era baggage of some of their peers. Instead, they’ve carved out their own space in the scene, turning breakdowns into anthems and pulling Grammy nominations along the way. Their addition to When We Were Young tilts the festival’s “emo nostalgia” into a broader snapshot of where heavy music sits now. Sharing the heavy corner with Knocked Loose, Beartooth and Ice Nine Kills, I Prevail bring a more contemporary ferocity to a line-up stacked with veterans.
I Prevail ‘Violent Nature’ September 19
That ferocity is about to be amplified by their fourth studio album, Violent Nature, landing September 19 via Fearless Records, less than a month before they hit Vegas. The record has already spawned singles ‘Into Hell’, the title track, and the more contemplative ‘Rain’. The latter finds frontman Eric Vanlerberghe channelling vulnerability through grit, reflecting on “acceptance of things out of your control and finding clarity”.
Produced entirely by bassist Jon Eberhard, Violent Nature spans 10 tracks, promising their most intense work yet. The album also marks Vanlerberghe’s first full outing as sole lead vocalist, a shift that’s tightened the band’s focus while sharpening their bite.

I Prevail Live

Slotting them alongside pop-punk icons may seem like a stylistic clash, but it’s exactly the kind of dynamic When We Were Young thrives on, past and present colliding in the Nevada desert.
