With The Devil Wears Prada set to release their new album Flowers on November 14, frontman Mike Hranica discusses the band’s creative process, longevity, and everything he’s built beyond the stage.
During the chat, Hranica discussed how Flowers captures where the band stands now, both musically and personally, as they celebrate their 20th year together. He also spoke about the balance of experimentation and familiarity that has defined this chapter for the veteran metalcore outfit.
When asked whether there were any creative detours during the making of the record, Hranica admitted that not everything went according to plan but suggested that some of those wrong turns ended up benefitting the final product.
Having first broken through in the late 2000s, The Devil Wears Prada have now spent nearly two decades navigating the changing tides of heavy music. Hranica reflected on the journey from the band’s early days to the present, noting how perspective and stamina, have shifted with time.

Tour Life and Other Ventures
Between constant touring and creative output, Hranica has kept his schedule full. He spoke candidly about the realities of tour life, the highs of live energy and the burnout that comes with it, while also touching on how his various side projects keep him creatively sharp.
His ambient leaning solo project Town of Lake, the experimental band God Alone, and his hockey-inspired clothing brand Hacksaw Hockey Club all showcase the same restless creativity that drives his work in Prada. An avid hockey player himself, Hranica balances his time between the ice and the road, finding calm where he can amid the mayhem of touring.
With Vans Warped Tour returning for a one-off event in Orlando this November, Hranica acknowledged its place in the band’s history and hinted at upcoming international shows as the group closes out the year and looks ahead to 2026.
