Voivod’s October run with BAT will not go ahead.
The Canadian metal band have cancelled all ten dates on their forthcoming U.S. tour because of a family health emergency. The run was due to begin in Youngstown, Ohio on October 8 and finish in Newport, Kentucky on October 18.
The Tour Cannot Be Rescheduled Yet
Voivod announced the decision on October 3 in a short statement shared through the band’s social accounts. They said they would prefer to call the tour postponed, but cannot commit to replacement dates at this time.
“It is with heavy hearts that we must cancel the US tour dates with BAT due to family health emergency in the Voivod clan,” the band wrote.
Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase. Voivod have asked fans to allow a few days for ticketing systems and venues to process the change.
The affected itinerary covered Youngstown, Liverpool, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Richmond, Orlando, Atlanta, Raleigh, Asheville and Newport. Richmond metal-punk trio BAT were scheduled to support across the run.
A Difficult Year Around The Band
Voivod did not identify the person involved in the latest announcement, and there is no reason to guess. The group have previously spoken about serious health issues affecting people close to the band, including members of their extended family.
Frontman Denis “Snake” Bélanger had already stepped away from European touring earlier in the year to attend to a family matter, with former Voivod vocalist and bassist Eric Forrest returning to fill in. That situation makes the band’s inability to promise new U.S. dates understandable.
For now, the practical advice is straightforward: ticket holders should watch their original point of sale for refund information. The band’s October calendar may still appear on some venue and ticketing pages while those systems catch up.
Voivod’s full statement can be found through the band’s official social channels. No replacement dates have been announced.
