Tool Are Still Playing The Final Black Sabbath Show, Despite The Drama

Share

No, Tool haven’t been kicked off the Black Sabbath farewell show, internet chaos aside, they’re still locked in for the Villa Park blowout on July 5.

Things got messy when Sharon Osbourne, never one to mince words, casually revealed she booted a band from the bill after their manager “started going around making up bulls**t lies.” Cue instant meltdown. Tool’s name briefly vanished from the official site, Reddit went feral and fans assumed Maynard and co. were toast.

But nah, that’s not the case.

Tool squashed the rumours fast, posting: “We are excited to be a part of this legendary show. For those of you who can’t make it, there will be a livestream available.” Their name’s back on the poster, and neither Ozzy’s camp nor Sharon have confirmed who actually got the axe.

Some fans reckon it might have to do with Maynard’s past jab at Ozzy’s health, saying it might take “modern miracles” to get him back onstage. If there’s any lingering tension though, it’s clearly not enough to keep Tool off the bill.

What’s Going Down

The show, dubbed ‘Back to the Beginning’. Marks the first time Ozzy, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward will share the stage in two decades. It’s a generational goodbye to the gods of metal.

The lineup? Ridiculous.

  • Metallica
  • Slayer
  • Pantera
  • KoRn
  • Alice In Chains
  • Soundgarden (surviving members)
  • Plus, Tom Morello as musical director

Ozzy says he’s “giving 120 percent” to make it. Standing, sitting, or throne-bound, he’ll be there. And so will Tool.

So yeah, ignore the noise. Tool are still in.

Where To Order

You can catch Back to the Beginning live on Friday, July 5 at 10:00am ET / 7:00am PT. Livestream tickets are available now at backtothebeginning.com and include 48 hour replay access. There’s also a merch bundle for those who want to own a piece of metal history.
