Poppy Shares ‘Unravel’: Her First Original Solo Single of 2025

Share

Poppy has released ‘Unravel,’ her first original solo single of 2025. Produced by Jordan Fish, the track captures her most vulnerable side yet.

The two-time GRAMMY nominated artist has dropped ‘Unravel’ via Sumerian Records, her first original solo single of the year, following her explosive collaboration ‘End Of You’ with Amy Lee and Courtney LaPlante.

Produced and co-written by Jordan Fish (Bring Me The Horizon), ‘Unravel’ finds Poppy at her most vulnerable, a stark fusion of ethereal vocals and gut-punching emotion that erupts into a storm of distortion and melody. It’s an introspective and cathartic offering that underscores why Poppy continues to defy genre boundaries, sitting comfortably in her own experimental metalcore space.

Unravel visualiser

The accompanying ‘Unravel’ visualiser, directed by long-time collaborator Sam Cannon, mirrors the song’s emotional turbulence. It depicts Poppy facing down a tornado, a symbol of destruction, transformation, and self-confrontation that captures the track’s raw core.

‘Unravel’ follows a series of milestones for the genre bending icon. Her 2025 GRAMMY nomination for ‘Suffocate’ (with Knocked Loose) marked another high point in a career defined by reinvention. Poppy also made history back in 2021 as the first-ever female solo nominee for Best Metal Performance with her blistering track ‘BLOODMONEY’.

From her surreal variety show Improbably Poppy to her graphic novel work and relentless touring schedule, including the second leg of her They’re All Around Us tour, Poppy has built a universe where art, aggression, and vulnerability collide.

Poppy ‘Last Christmas’ (WHAM cover)

With her recent cover of WHAM!’s ‘Last Christmas’ (below) and her genre melding work with Amy Lee and Courtney LaPlante still echoing across playlists, ‘Unravel’ feels like the next chapter in her continuous evolution. It’s Poppy stripped back and storm-ready, fragile, fearless, and unflinchingly human.

Listen to and watch ‘Unravel’ now via Sumerian Records.
