Hayley Williams has peeled back another layer of Paramore’s history, this time pointing the finger at former guitarist Josh Farro for derailing what could have been a cult defining crossover moment.
In a new conversation with The New York Times, Williams explained that Paramore were offered a spot on the 2009 Jennifer’s Body soundtrack, but the band ultimately never appeared because of Farro’s beliefs. The horror comedy, starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried, leaned heavily into biting satire and queer undertones, themes Farro reportedly didn’t back.
‘There were a lot of things that I even wanted to do that they weren’t supportive of,’ Williams said. ‘And when I say “they,” I mostly mean Zac’s brother, ’cause he was an ass.’

According to Williams, she turned down the film’s end credits slot for Farro, speculating that his fundamentalist Christian background made him object to the movie’s content. ‘I turned down the end credits of Jennifer’s Body for him. You know what I mean? There’s so much lore! There’s so much people don’t know,’ she added.

While Paramore sat it out, Williams’ solo track ‘Teenagers’ (below) slipped onto the soundtrack instead, landing alongside Panic! At The Disco, Dashboard Confessional, and Cute Is What We Aim For. Though dismissed by critics on release, the film has since been reclaimed as a queer cult classic, its once derided “demonic” vibe now celebrated as the best kind, in Williams’ own words.
The interview didn’t stop there. Williams also confirmed that the ‘racist country singer’ referenced in her latest solo song, ‘Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party’, is in fact Morgan Wallen, a statement guaranteed to spark fresh conversation.
Fifteen years on from Jennifer’s Body, it’s wild to think how different Paramore’s legacy might look if their name had rolled with the credits. Instead, it became another ‘what if’ in a career already stacked with near misses, bold risks, and plenty of lore that still keeps fans hooked.
