Hayley Williams just made your weekend sound a whole lot better. As of this morning, all 17 tracks that were previously hidden behind a secret password on her personal site are now available to stream.
Originally locked behind a code included with purchases of her Good Dye Young ‘Ego’ hair colour, the songs were part of a cryptic promo rollout, classic Hayley, blending vulnerability with lo-fi mystery. Fans who entered the password landed on a minimalist webpage with track titles like ‘True Believer’, ‘Mirtazapine’, ‘Hard’, ‘Discovery Channel’, and ‘Zissou’. There was even a folder marked ‘Misc’ with a live video from 2017, a lyric book preview, and a t-shirt declaring Hayley Williams is my favourite band.
No Password Needed
Now, just two days later, the Paramore frontwoman has let everyone in, no hair dye required.
The 17 songs were recorded and produced alongside Daniel James (The Veronicas, Selena Gomez), with longtime collaborators Brian Robert Jones and Joey Howard lending their signature textures throughout. Jim-E Stack also appears on ‘True Believer’, adding a layered gloss to the release.
There’s plenty here for deep cut fans, too. The chorus from ‘Ice In My OJ’ dates all the way back to 2004, pulled from a song called ‘Jumping Inside’ by Williams’ early band Mammoth City Messengers. It’s a quiet nod to her roots, now reimagined through a grown-up lens of self reflection, cynicism and melodic grit.
What’s Next?
Though there’s been no official announcement of a solo album, this marks Williams’ third major drop of personal material, following 2020’s Petals For Armor and 2021’s FLOWERS for VASES/descansos. It’s unclear whether these tracks will be bundled into a formal release, but the volume and depth here suggest they’re more than just offcuts.
