In a candid Instagram post, Burkheiser confirmed what fans had suspected: this wasn’t a graceful farewell. It was a breakdown, years in the making.
‘I had a falling out with the dudes… sh*t did get tough along the way and I do think that I didn’t deserve how things went down,’ he wrote.
No shade, no name calling but the pain is written between the lines. Where I Prevail’s May statement painted the split as mutual and respectful (details here), Burkheiser’s side tells a heavier story. One of miscommunication, detachment and emotional fallout.
‘Divorces normally happen due to lack of communication… I did try to communicate more and I wish that they would’ve talked to me more.’
He doesn’t lash out, but he’s clear: he felt iced out as things fell apart. The guy helped build a metalcore juggernaut and wound up watching it implode from the inside.
‘We were all just kids. None of us knew what the f**k we were doing. It all happened so fast.’
Burkheiser reflects on the chaos of rising fame, the pressure, the silence. And while he doesn’t burn bridges, the emotional toll is obvious.
Still, there’s no grudge in sight, just a call for healing.
‘I want to rekindle my friendships with those guys one day.’
