Independent thriller The Desperate is generating fresh interest as the filmmakers explore multiple potential distribution opportunities for the upcoming crime thriller.
Produced by Cut 2 the Chase Entertainment in association with Diyne Media and New Way Productions, The Desperate is being positioned as a dark, hard edged story about desperation, crime and the lengths people may go to when conventional options disappear.
The film follows a struggling store manager and his waitress wife whose attempts to make money spiral badly out of control.
Their increasingly desperate circumstances ultimately put them on the wrong side of the law, sending the couple into a dangerous flight from police, a vigilante and a psychopath.
The story also ventures into the disturbing world of organ trafficking, adding a particularly grim dimension to its crime-thriller premise.

Ongoing negotiations
While no distribution agreement has been announced, the production team says several possibilities are currently being considered, the filmmakers have stressed that discussions remain ongoing and that nothing is official until a deal is signed.
That uncertainty hasn’t stopped the project from attracting attention, with the team describing the current stage as a significant moment for the independently produced film.
Directed and produced by Chase Dudley (Blood on the Bleachers), The Desperate features a cast that includes Noel G., known for The Fast & The Furious, The Purge: Anarchy and Training Day, alongside Lisa Wilcox of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and A Nightmare on Elm Street 5, Kansas Bowling, Leonora Scelfo and others.
The creative team also includes writers Gregory Blair (Craving) and Charlie Brady (Broken Innocence), with producers Samantha Dudley, John Norris Ray and Abel Berry.
For now, audiences will have to wait for further word on where The Desperate ultimately lands.
With distribution discussions underway and the filmmakers signalling that more news could be coming, the indie thriller is one to keep on the radar. Nothing has been officially locked in yet, but if the current momentum continues, The Desperate could soon find its way to a much wider audience.
