The hockey mask could soon fit a whole lot tighter, Pro wrestler and actor Adam Scherr, better known to WWE fans as Braun Strowman, has made it clear he wants to take on the role of Jason Voorhees in the next Friday the 13th movie.
It’s been 16 years since Jason last headlined a feature film, but the character has recently clawed his way back into the public eye. This year saw the release of Sweet Revenge, an official short film under the newly minted “Jason Universe” banner, and Peacock’s upcoming prequel series Crystal Lake is set to explore the killer’s childhood years. When it comes to the full grown machete wielding Jason though? The franchise still doesn’t have an actor confirmed for the role.

Dream role
That hasn’t stopped Scherr from raising his hand, speaking with Collider while promoting his part in Deathgasm 2, the former WWE powerhouse revealed his dream gig would be stepping into Jason’s boots. “There may be some talks about it with people that I know and my agency. If we could ever get everybody to get back on the same page and allow things to work, I might be the next Voorhees,” he said, even joking, “I would gladly shave this beard off to play that character.”
If the casting ever came together, it would deliver the most physically imposing Jason to date. Strowman, once billed in WWE as the “monster of all monsters,” stands 6’8” and weighs well over 300 pounds. In true wrestling showmanship fashion, he doubled down after the interview by posting an AI generated image of himself in Jason’s mask with the caption: “Could you imagine???”
Whether it’s a genuine hint of behind the scenes discussions or just wishful thinking, the idea of Braun Strowman as Jason Voorhees has horror fans buzzing. One thing is certain, if Scherr gets the role, Camp Crystal Lake will never look the same again.
