Nu-metal heads, this is not a drill. Spineshank are officially back. After years of radio silence, the L.A. bruisers are reuniting for the The Height of Callousness 25th anniversary tour. An album that defined their out there, industrial laced brand of rage. How about this for a centrepiece of this long overdue comeback? A stop at this year’s Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville, Kentucky.
If you came up on the heavy rotation of Synthetic and New Disease, you know the score, Spineshank weren’t just another nu-metal band lost in the shuffle. Their sound fused teeth gritting aggression with mechanical precision with equal parts Slipknot fury and Fear Factory machinery. Tracks like Cyanide 2600 and Seamless were the soundtrack to a generation of disaffected outsiders.
The band’s North American tour, co headlining with The Union Underground and featuring support from Adema and Sicksense, kicks off July 9 in Texas and runs through major cities and festivals, with that massive Louder Than Life slot on September 20. Expect a setlist stacked with cuts from The Height of Callousness, delivered with the kind of raw energy that made Spineshank one of the most ferocious live acts of their time.
Their Louder Than Life set promises to be more than just a nostalgia trip, it’s a chance for both OG fans and a new wave of heavy music devotees to experience that unfiltered Spineshank chaos in the flesh.
