Panic! At The Disco tore through a stacked set at When We Were Young, performing deep cuts and fan favorites alike, here’s our Blunt review of the moment.
When Panic! At The Disco stormed the stage at When We Were Young in Las Vegas, it felt like two decades of chamber pop, emo punk and theatrical rock got thrown into one wild set. The band opened with the entire A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, including songs rarely heard live for years.
Tracks like ‘The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide Is Press Coverage’, ‘London Beckoned…’ and ‘Nails for Breakfast, Tacks for Snacks’ hadn’t been played live since the late 2000s, making the first set feel like a rediscovery. The mood shifted into a second set packed with hits, from ‘Don’t Threaten Me With a Good Time’ to ‘Hey Look Ma, I Made It’, and the inevitable sing along of ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’.
There were standout moments that hit heavy, the return of drummer Spencer Smith for ‘I Write Sins…’ marked their first performance together since 2013, a move that not only excited fans, but delivered goosebumps. When the band broke into a surprise cover of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ mid set, it felt both audacious and perfectly in keeping with their showmanship.
The production matched the ambition, dramatic lighting, theatrical pauses, and a crowd that knew every lyric. Watching songs that were considered “live-resurrected” alongside more recent anthems was a reminder, Panic! are a band built on reinvention as much as celebration.
