Yungblud has never been shy about using his platform, and this week he turned a live show into a call to action.

Mid set in Melbourne, Australia the British artist urged fans to speak out for Iran, asking the crowd to amplify the voices of protestors facing violent repression and possible execution.

While performing at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Yungblud paused the music to address the ongoing anti-government protests in Iran, placing the fight for freedom squarely in the hands of his community.

“Two years ago, I spoke about a girl called Mahsa Amini from Iran, who was murdered for not wearing her hijab. And no, it is not my prerogative to question somebody’s religion, but this community fights for equality and liberation throughout the f**king world.”

‘This revolution is led by the f**king women’

He framed the protests as both urgent and historic, emphasizing the role women are playing in the movement:

“What is going on in Iran is beautiful, because this revolution is led by the fking women. And for four days, they have had their internet cut off, they have had their electricity cut off, they are in darkness. They are asking for our voice, we have to be their fking light right now,” he continued.

He urged fans to use whatever reach they have, no matter how small:

“So speak, shout, post, because they are fighting for freedom, they are fighting for their freedom, they are fighting for our freedom. Because nobody is free until we are all f**king free.”

Not the first time Yungblud has spoken out

In 2022, Yungblud addressed the death of Mahsa Amini during a set at Firefly Music Festival in Delaware, Amini (22) died after being arrested by Iran’s morality police for not wearing a hijab, sparking nationwide protests.

At the time, Yungblud told the crowd:

“I’m so fking angry right now and every time something in the world happens like this, I ask myself if I’m gonna fking talk about it or not.”

“I am not gonna stand here and question someone’s religion, but I am gonna fking fight for expression. I am gonna fight for freedom and I am gonna fight for the women of fking Iran right now.”
