Tony Hawk surprised fans by stepping on stage with Goldfinger at Vans Warped Tour Long Beach to sing ‘Superman.’
Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk made an unforgettable appearance during the first day of Vans Warped Tour Long Beach’s 30th anniversary festivities, joining ska‑punk veterans Goldfinger to perform the band’s iconic track ‘Superman.’
The cameo came during Goldfinger’s Warped Tour set on the shores of Long Beach, where Hawk hopped up mid‑show to belt out ‘Superman’ alongside vocalist John Feldmann. It’s a song forever tied to Hawk’s skateboarding legacy thanks to its inclusion in the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game, and attendees were more than happy to see Hawk belt it out live alongside the band.
The (unfortunately) brief but iconic collaboration arrived as part of the Vans Warped Tour celebrating its 30th anniversary. The festival’s Long Beach stop kicked off with wild energy, and Hawk’s stage appearance served as a reminder of how punk, skate culture, games and music have interwoven over decades – and is well in step with the Warped Tour tradition of surprise crossovers on and off stage.
Just last month at the Warped Tour DC stop, Avril Lavigne reunited with Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley (who also happens to be her ex-husband) for an on-stage collaboration for the ages.
Whether you’re a longtime fan of skate and alternative culture or a casual observer tuning in, Tony Hawk’s spontaneous duet with Goldfinger was one of the highlights of the day. Check out fan-filmed videos of the moment below:
Whether you’re watching from the barricade or following from afar, this year’s 30th anniversary is shaping up to be one of Warped’s most memorable chapters yet.
