Soulfly have announced details of their 13th studio album, Chama, set for release on October 24, 2025 via Nuclear Blast. Alongside the news comes the record’s first single, ‘Storm The Gates’, a track that stomps with tribal groove, sharp riffs, and Max Cavalera’s trademark growl.
The single arrives with a lyric video by visual artist Costin Chioreanu, pairing Soulfly’s raw heaviness with surrealist imagery. Cavalera describes the song as a battle cry against control and greed, framed as a call to arms for the band’s self described “tribe.”

“Chama is the Brazilian word for flame – it also means a calling,” Max explains. “This record is the sound of Soulfly’s fire. I cannot wait to play these songs live.”
A Family Affair
The album was tracked at Platinum Underground Studio in Mesa, Arizona, with production handled by Max’s son and drummer, Zyon Cavalera, alongside Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Cavalera Conspiracy). Zyon says the process marked a new step for him: “Trying to take the band to places we’ve never been before was a blast. I look forward to more production work in the future.”
On Chama, Soulfly’s current line up features Max, Zyon, guitarist Mike De Leon, and bassist Igor Amadeus Cavalera (Go Ahead & Die, Healing Magic). Fear Factory’s Dino Cazares also makes a guest appearance on one track, adding even more weight to an already heavy line up.
The cover art comes courtesy of Carletta Parrish, while the album’s ten tracks range from politically charged cuts (‘Indigenous Inquisition’, ‘Favela / Dystopia’) to instrumental moments like ‘Soulfly XIII’.
