Sol Invicto, Richie Londres’ industrial metal outfit featuring Deftones’ Stephen Carpenter and Cypress Hill’s Eric Bobo are doubling down on their heavy roots. The crew have released an instrumental version of their ‘Loosely Aware’ EP, it’s available on streaming platforms right now!

If you’ve followed Sol Invicto since their secretive Comiti days, this release feels like a return to form without vocals or compromise, just straight up crushing riffs and cinematic grime. Carpenter’s unmistakable tone locks in alongside Bobo’s percussive backbone, but the wild card here is Xander Raymond Charles (XRC), a Philadelphia shredder whose playthrough of ‘Lost in Translation’ dropped on YouTube recently, giving fans a taste of what’s coming.
Watch it here:
XRC’s lead work cuts through like a buzzsaw, balancing clinical precision with raw, emotive chaos. Think Dimebag at his filthiest mixed with flashes of Gilmour’s melodic restraint, all filtered through Richie Londres’ dense production. This marks the first time Carpenter has collaborated with a shredder of this calibre, adding a new edge to Sol Invicto’s already savage sound.
Richie Londres calls it “the music in its true form”, hinting that while vocals might return down the line, this instrumental release represents the project’s core vision. If ‘Loosely Aware’ felt heavy before, this stripped-back version is even grimier, darker and more cinematic.
