Slipknot turned back the clock and cranked up the chaos during their blistering headline set on Day 2 of Rock am Ring 2025, hitting the Nuerburgring stage in their original black jumpsuits. The return to their early uniform wasn’t just nostalgic window dressing, it was a defiant nod to the era when they were the most dangerous band in metal, and a clear message: the mask may change, but the menace remains.
From the opening roar of ‘People = Sh*t’, it was clear they weren’t here to coast. The set was brutal, unrelenting, and sharp edged. Corey Taylor prowled the stage like a man possessed, delivering each scream with venomous precision. The percussion section rattled bones, Craig’s eerie textures added industrial weight, and the guitar work was a sawblade to the chest.
Visually
The band kept it stripped-back, no pyro, no gimmicks, just stark lighting and those infamous suits. That choice made the performance even more intense, forcing the focus onto the sound and presence. With one fewer member on stage, Clown was notably absent, Slipknot still sounded monstrous. If anything, the leaner lineup gave the performance a sharpened edge.
The setlist blended old school devastation with newer offerings from ‘The End, So Far’, seamlessly tied together through raw energy rather than nostalgia baiting. This wasn’t a legacy act coasting on past glory. It was a reminder that Slipknot’s fury hasn’t faded, it’s evolved.
For longtime fans, it was a spiritual gut punch. For newer Maggots, a brutal education. Either way, the message landed: Slipknot aren’t done, and they haven’t softened. They just proved again that when they tap into their roots, few bands can match their sheer, seething force.
Upcoming U.S. Show
Slipknot are dragging their chaos back onto American soil this July 18, headlining the Inkcarceration Festival in Mansfield, Ohio. It’s one of only a handful of U.S. dates this year, so if you’re a stateside Maggot, this might be your only shot to catch the madness in the flesh.
