Operating somewhere between a dark electronic fever dream and a post-metal dirge, PRESIDENT are carving out their own lane and they’re doing it unapologetically. The multi million streaming act have confirmed their debut EP, ‘King of Terrors’, is dropping September 26. Blending themes of mortality, religion and the uncomfortable realities we usually bury, it’s an introduction that isn’t asking for permission.
The EP’s title pulls directly from a Biblical passage referencing death itself, pretty fitting, considering PRESIDENT’s fixation on life’s inevitable full stop.
New Single ‘RAGE’ Out Now
Out now, new single ‘RAGE’ offers a glimpse into PRESIDENT’s shifting sonic landscape. Built on synth-driven chaos layered over suffocating electronic textures, it’s their most sonically adventurous track to date. Lyrically, it channels Dylan Thomas’ iconic poem ‘Do not go gentle into that good night’, channelling defiance in the face of fading light. It’s not a peaceful listen, and that’s exactly the point.
PRESIDENT’s entire project was born from confronting discomfort. As the band explain: ‘These are chapters drawn from the shadows we tend to sidestep – because facing them demands more than most are willing to give.’ It’s heavy music designed to unnerve, shifting the focus from faces to feeling. Image isn’t part of the equation. Intent is.
Operating at the collision point of metal, cinematic soundscapes, and electronic experimentation, PRESIDENT aren’t chasing a scene, they seem to be building their own.
