Pinkshift are done playing nice. The Maryland trio Ashrita Kumar, Paul Vallejo and Myron Houngbedji have returned. With fists clenched and amps cranked, announcing their new album Earthkeeper. Set to drop 29 August via Hopeless Records.
Alongside the news, they’ve unleashed the video for lead single ‘Anita Ride’. A track that comes out swinging with massive riffs and a raw edge that leaves their pop punk tags in the dust!
Check it out here:
Earthkeeper is Pinkshift’s heaviest, most unflinching work to date. Built on themes of loss, anxiety and the crumbling of so called stable lives. It rages against the void while clinging to hope. The album’s spiritual core, a protector figure named the Earthkeeper. Channels the band’s collective grief and fury into something cathartic and loud as hell.
This isn’t the same Pinkshift who dropped Love Me Forever in 2022. The band have levelled up, sonically and emotionally. Pulling inspiration from modern heavyweights like Loathe and Knocked Loose. Tracks like ‘Evil Eye’ have already turned heads. With Stereogum calling it “fitting for these f**ked up times” and Metal Injection praising its dive into “raunchy, angry metal.”
Pinkshift have been carving their name into the alternative scene, sharing stages with The Linda Lindas, The Gaslight Anthem, Pussy Riot and more. Not to mention playing festivals like Riot Fest, Louder Than Life and Aftershock. With Earthkeeper, they’re ready to tear down whatever boxes people tried to stuff them into.
