Paramount+ has shared the first look at Ozzy: No Escape From Now, a feature length documentary arriving October 7 in the U.S. and internationally (excluding Japan). The film captures the final years of Ozzy Osbourne, following his health battles, creative drive, and one last performance in Birmingham before his passing on July 22.

Directed by BAFTA winner Tania Alexander, the project began in 2022 during sessions for Ozzy’s 13th album Patient Number 9. The trailer shows him recording the title track, spliced with candid reflections: “I used to take pills for fun. Now I take them to stay alive.”

The film spans the devastating setbacks Ozzy faced after his 2019 fall through to his final bow with Black Sabbath in his hometown. Alongside intimate moments with his family, it features appearances from Tony Iommi, Duff McKagan, Robert Trujillo, Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenan, Chad Smith, Zakk Wylde, and producer Andrew Watt.

The Osbourne family worked closely with production house Echo Velvet and MTV Entertainment Studios. Sharon Osbourne called the film “an honest account” of what Ozzy endured, noting his resilience in the face of Parkinson’s disease and other health struggles: “It shows how hard things have been for him and the courage he has shown.”

The creative team behind the film described working with Ozzy and his family across three and a half years as “a cherished and remarkable experience,” praising his humour and defiance even in decline.

When the documentary was first announced, Ozzy himself said: “The last six years have been full of some of the worst times I’ve been through. But making music and making two albums saved me. I’d have gone nuts without music. My fans have supported me for so many years, and I really want to thank them and say a proper goodbye.”

Ozzy: No Escape From Now promises to be more than a rock doc, it’s a farewell portrait of a legend who fought to keep music at the centre of his life until the very end.
