Ozzy Osbourne is opening the door once more on his chaotic, culture-shifting life with a brand new memoir, Last Rites, set for release on October 7.
Announced just days after his final live appearance with Black Sabbath, Last Rites marks the 76 year old icon’s second memoir following 2010’s best selling ‘I Am Ozzy‘. This new volume promises a deeper, darker dive, chronicling everything from the early days of Sabbath through to his more recent health battles and family reckonings.
According to the publisher, Last Rites offers “the shocking, bitterly hilarious, never before told story of Osbourne’s descent into hell”, but also highlights moments of redemption. Including the Back to the Beginning concert at Villa Park in his hometown of Birmingham. That final performance with Black Sabbath raised a staggering $190 million for Parkinson’s research, children’s health and hospice care.
The book also reflects on Ozzy’s personal encounters with some of rock’s most mythologised figures, including Bon Scott, John Bonham, Keith Moon and Lemmy Kilmister. “If I’d been clean and sober, I wouldn’t be Ozzy,” he writes in an early excerpt. “If I’d done normal, sensible things, I wouldn’t be Ozzy.”

Now 76, Ozzy says he’s not ready to sign off just yet. “Look, if it ends tomorrow, I can’t complain. I’ve been all around the world. Seen a lot of things. I’ve done good … and I’ve done bad.”
The memoir is available for pre order here and retails for $30.
The announcement also follows Ozzy’s latest project, a limited makeup collection with UK indie brand Jolie Beauty, celebrating his legacy in the gothic and alternative scenes.
It’s safe to say with Last Rites, Ozzy isn’t just telling his story, he’s sealing his legacy. Loud, unfiltered and deeply human, this might be the final chapter fans never knew they needed.
