Tonight, the streets of Birmingham will fall silent for one final time as fans and family say goodbye to the Prince of Darkness.
Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away on July 22 at the age of 76, will be honoured in a public funeral procession through his hometown of Birmingham.. Livestream footage begins at 8:00 AM ET / 5:00 AM PT, giving fans across the U.S. a chance to witness the tribute in real time.
The funeral cortege will travel down Broad Street, a stretch steeped in rock history, before reaching the Black Sabbath Bridge, home of the commemorative bench that’s become an altar of grief and gratitude since Ozzy’s passing. Fans can join the procession virtually by visiting the Black Sabbath Bench website, entering their email, and tuning into the livestream.
More Than Music
Zafar Iqbal, honorary Lord Mayor of Birmingham, called Osbourne “more than a music legend, he was a son of Birmingham:
“He (Osbourne) was very important and he was a proud Brummie.”
“I think he put Birmingham, and especially Aston, on the world map. He’s done so much for the city and we honoured him with the freedom of the city as well, which we were grateful that he came (to) and received about six weeks ago.”
Final Farewell

This marks the final public farewell before a private funeral service is held. Osbourne died just weeks after headlining Black Sabbath’s final charity concert, which raised a staggering $190 million for Parkinson’s research, children’s hospitals, and hospice care. Further proof that even in his last act, Ozzy gave everything he had.
From factory floors to global stages, Ozzy’s legacy is stitched into the fabric of heavy music. Now, the city that made him and the fans who worshipped him, get to walk him home.
Rest easy, Ozzy.
