Mudvayne have finally broken their 16 year drought of new music, dropping a single titled ‘Hurt People Hurt People’ via Alchemy Recordings.
For a band that’s made a career out of twisting pain into performance art, the track feels like a natural continuation rather than a comeback. Chad Gray cuts deep with lyrics about breaking cycles of trauma: “We create our own suffering. It’s time to create self love and let go of the pain.” It’s heavy, introspective, and laced with the kind of off kilter menace that defined their early years.

The single lands as Mudvayne prepare to hit the road for their previously announced L.D. 50 25th Anniversary Tour this September. The debut album dropped back in 2000, instantly positioning the Peoria, IL crew as one of nu-metal’s strangest and most innovative exports. Two decades on, L.D. 50 is still cited as essential listening, proof of how far their influence of groove and technicality seeped into modern metal.
Mudvayne’s return to the studio also shows their story isn’t just nostalgia bait to cash in on anniversaries, they’re here to carve open the next chapter.

The L.D. 50 Anniversary Tour
