SharpTone Records has officially welcomed MOTHICA to its global roster, and she’s marking the next chapter of her career with a dark single, ‘Evergreen Misery’. The track arrives alongside a cinematic new video that signals a new, heavier era for the alt pop artist fans have affectionately dubbed ‘Rockica’.
“Writing ‘Evergreen Misery’ was a journey full of every twist and turn you could imagine,” MOTHICA shared. “I was a few months out of rehab and I needed to release this simmering anger and deep melancholy that I was numbing for so long. Getting swept up into the underbelly of the music industry took a huge toll on my mental health… I finally felt ready to reconnect with the pure feeling of writing music again.”
Raw honesty is nothing new for MOTHICA, but this time, it cuts deeper with the new single channelling resentment, recovery, and empowerment in equal measure. “The lyrics are a reflection of some energy vampires I’ve had in my life,” she explained. “People I let in who tried to borrow elements of my story as their own. There’s a dark humour in that, this idea of ‘take what you want from me, my misery is bottomless.’”

With ‘Evergreen Misery’, MOTHICA leans into heavier textures inspired by Nine Inch Nails, Sleep Token, Bad Omens, Bring Me The Horizon, and Evanescence, blending cinematic synths, distorted guitars, and massive emotional hooks. “It finally felt like the right time to pull from that side of myself,” she said. Working alongside producer Elliot Polokoff, MOTHICA carved out a sound that merges vulnerability with venom.
Her signing to SharpTone marks more than just a label move, but a renewal. “While writing this new era of music, I knew I was taking a step in a different sonic direction,” she said. “The entire team at SharpTone Records really saw my vision with both the music and the visuals I create. I’m so excited to announce this partnership to elevate the next evolution of MOTHICA.”
From her early breakout with ‘Blue Hour’ to the acclaimed ‘Kissing Death’, MOTHICA’s story has always been about transformation. Now, with SharpTone behind her and fire in her voice, she sounds reborn, and ready to burn brighter than ever.
