Matthew Lillard Crashes Ice Nine Kills’ World With New Role And Whiskey Collab

Share

Leave it to Ice Nine Kills to turn a fan convention into a full blown horror spectacle. At the closing panel of the fourth annual Silver Scream Con, the Boston metalcore crew got a surprise crash guest: Matthew Lillard. Yes, that Matthew Lillard, cult legend from Scream and Scooby-Doo.

The actor stormed the stage to reveal he’s officially part of the ever expanding Ice Nine Kills Cinematic Universe, starring in the band’s next horror driven music video. “I am very excited to announce that I am in the Ice Nine Kills cinematic universe, and I will be in the next video,” Lillard told the crowd, instantly sending fans into meltdown.

If you didn’t know, Ice Nine Kills doesn’t just release music videos, they craft sprawling horror short films, complete with a running storyline and cameos from genre royalty. Past appearances have included Bill Moseley (House of 1000 Corpses), David Howard Thornton (Terrifier), and Joe Bob Briggs, cementing Ice Nine Kill’s reputation as the most cinematic band in metalcore.

Macabre Spirits

Lillard’s announcement didn’t stop at the screen, he’s also teaming up with the band through his horror themed spirit brand Macabre Spirits. Together they’re launching Horrorwood Reserve, a bourbon made from bloody butcher corn (yes, that’s a real thing, and yes, it sounds perfectly twisted).

Both the new video and the whiskey are slated to drop on October 9, perfectly timed for spooky season.

It’s another notch in Ice Nine Kill’s blood stained belt after July’s release of ‘The Great Unknown’ (below), a single inspired by The Matrix. Meanwhile, Macabre Spirits has been keeping horror fans hydrated, or haunted with offerings like Hell Is Not Mocked.

With Lillard stepping into Ice Nine Kills’ Horrorwood saga, fans can expect the next chapter to blur the line between cult cinema, heavy riffs, and horror geek indulgence. One thing is absolutely for certain, October can’t come soon enough.
