MALEVOLENCE Push Emotional Limits With ‘Salt The Wound’ Ahead Of U.S. Tour

Share

Steel City’s fiercest export gets raw, melodic, and heavier than ever as they storm toward their American invasion

British metallic hardcore juggernauts MALEVOLENCE aren’t just sharpening their riffs, they’re cutting straight to the bone. The Sheffield crew has dropped their latest single, ‘Salt The Wound’, a searing fusion of vulnerability and sheer sonic weight. The track lands ahead of their new album, Where Only The Truth Is Spoken, set to hit on June 20 via MLVLTD and Nuclear Blast Records, and it’s already shaping up to be one of the year’s most emotionally charged releases in heavy music.

A Different Kind of Brutality

Where previous singles ‘Trenches’ and ‘If It’s All The Same To You’ hit with unrelenting ferocity, ‘Salt The Wound’ slows things down, but only to twist the knife deeper. The song leans into melody without surrendering an ounce of MALEVOLENCE’s power. Frontman Alex Taylor explained the duality in a statement that echoes the band’s evolving ethos:

“‘Salt The Wound’ is the product of us making a conscious decision to bridge the two faces of Malevolence. On one hand we have the heavy aggressive side, and on the other we have the slower melodic songs, so we wanted a song that could combine the two.”

That contrast bleeds into the track’s stunning visuals. Filmed entirely in Sheffield and its surrounding countryside, the music video showcases bleak industrial decay, crumbling abbey ruins, and vast hilltops—underscoring the band’s ties to home even as they set their sights abroad.

“From the moment I heard the guitar solo Josh had written for this song, I pictured him on a mountain top doing the solo, so we made it happen, Malev style!” Taylor adds.
