Dropkick Murphys frontman Ken Casey has taken his working class anthems halfway across the world, teaming up with Ukrainian punk band O’Hamsters to record a Ukrainian-language version of ‘Who’ll Stand With Us?’.
The collaboration was born during Casey’s humanitarian trip to Ukraine earlier this year, a mission that blended punk solidarity with real world action. The new version was recorded in Kyiv and arrives with a video featuring clips from the studio and powerful footage of Ukrainian soldiers in the field. It’s more than a cross cultural remake, it’s a message of resilience and defiance from two bands who’ve built their identities on standing up for what matters.
‘Hearing the words of this song in the language of a nation at war brings a deeper meaning to the question “Who’ll Stand With Us?”’ Dropkick Murphys said in a statement. ‘As we honour America’s soldiers, we also honour soldiers on the front line in another country, Ukraine, as they keep fighting and keep LIVING. And a special shout out to the many American Veterans who are volunteering on the front lines WITH the Ukrainian forces. We thank everybody Who Stands With Us!’
The Original
The song originally appeared on the band’s latest album ‘For The People’, but this reimagined version takes it beyond Boston barrooms and into a global context, turning a protest anthem into a rallying cry for unity in the face of war.
Casey has been outspoken about his support for Ukraine, previously raising funds through limited-edition Dropkick Murphys merch and making a personal visit to the country in May 2025. That trip cemented his belief that music can still serve a purpose bigger than profit or playlist placements. He’s also believed to be one of the few American musicians without Ukrainian heritage to record in the country since the war began.
This isn’t the first time Casey has worked with O’Hamsters. The two bands first collaborated in 2022 on a bilingual version of ‘We Shall Overcome’, with Casey even learning enough Ukrainian to sing backup vocals.
On tour
Dropkick Murphys are currently wrapping up their European tour and will return to U.S. stages on 9 February 2026 for the ‘For The People… In The Pit’ St. Patrick’s Day Tour, joined by The Aggrolites and Haywire, before closing with their legendary Boston hometown shows.
