Howard Jones Is Back: New Solo Album In The Works With Spiritbox’s Josh Gilbert

After years lurking in the shadows, Howard Jones the voice behind some of Killswitch Engage’s most iconic anthems, is officially back in the studio. This time working on a new solo album, and he’s not doing it alone.

The metalcore veteran confirmed on July 19 via Instagram that he’s kicked off recording sessions alongside Josh Gilbert (of Spiritbox fame) and producer Joseph McQueen (known for work with Bullet For My Valentine). In Jones’ own words, he’s reunited with his “dream team,” finally starting a project they’ve been discussing for years.

It’s the second project Jones has brewing right now. Late last year, he revealed a collab with former Killswitch bandmate Adam Dutkiewicz, dropping the news that their project, called Burn Eternal was already mixed and mastered. In other words, we’re not just getting one dose of new Howard Jones music. We’re getting two!

For fans, this marks a serious comeback after what’s felt like somewhat of a long silence. Since stepping away from Killswitch Engage in 2012, Jones has fronted Light The Torch who last released an album in 2021 (You Will Be the Death of Me) and has popped up on guest features on the odd project. Now, with two new records on the horizon, that quiet streak looks well and truly over.

Adding fuel to the fire, Jones made a surprise return to the stage with Killswitch Engage just last month at Summer of Loud Festival in Florida, belting out three tracks alongside his old bandmates and giving fans a serious nostalgia hit.

Between the Burn Eternal project and this just announced solo record, it’s clear Jones is ready to re-stake his claim as one of modern metal’s most distinctive voices.

No release dates yet, but keep your ears open. This comeback is heating up.
