HEALTH are keeping their foot on the pedal. The Los Angeles noise-rock/industrial trio have announced their sixth album, Conflict DLC, out December 11 via Loma Vista Recordings. Alongside the news comes the lead single, ‘Ordinary Loss’, a crushing opener that immediately sets the tone for what’s being teased as the band’s heaviest and most fun release to date.
‘Ordinary Loss’ and the Internet Saturated Visuals
The single arrives with a video stitched together from clips of iconic anime and games, Cowboy Bebop, Akira, Metal Gear Solid, Cyberpunk 2077. It’s a reminder of HEALTH’s terminally online streak, something they’ve leaned into more with every cycle. The visuals pair perfectly with the track’s glitch heavy aggression and jagged electronics.

From RAT WARS to Conflict DLC
The new record follows 2023’s RAT WARS, which pushed the band to new heights and landed them collaborations with Lauren Mayberry of CHVRCHES (‘Ashamed’) and Noah Sebastian of Bad Omens (‘The Drain’, alongside Swarm’s Joakim Karlsson). They also dropped an industrial synthwave spin on Deftones’ ‘Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away)’ (below), which quickly became a setlist staple.
A More Immediate Sound
In an interview with NME, frontman Jake Duzsik has described Conflict DLC as a continuation of the RAT WARS sound but with more immediacy. In his words: “If RAT WARS feels like a concept record in this expansive landscape, then Conflict DLC is going to distinguish itself by being more uptempo, more bangers, more fun and sht I know will be fun to play live.”*
Duzsik also explained the band dove straight into writing after their tour ended, aiming to capture the chemistry of live shows while the energy was still fresh. The result, he says, is an album that stays close to the RAT WARS universe but takes its aesthetic further into darker, sharper territory.
