Fleshwater Unleash Bleak New Single ‘Jetpack’, Tease September Album Drop

Fleshwater are back, and they’re not interested in comfort. The Massachusetts alt-rock unit have dropped ‘Jetpack’, the first taste of their sophomore full length 2000: In Search of Endless Sky. This one is heading our way 5 September 2025 via Closed Casket Activities.

Built on duelling shoegaze guitars and a bassline that pulses like a panic attack, ‘Jetpack’ channels melancholy with force. Marisa Shirar’s vocals float somewhere between dream pop and despair, while Anthony DiDio and John Lhaubouet drench the track in fuzzed out grit. It’s moodier and more downcast than your usual lead single, but that’s all a part of the charm. Fleshwater aren’t here to make you feel good, they’re here to make you feel.

The band broke out with their 2022 debut We’re Not Here to Be Loved, a genre bending album that turned what started as a Vein.fm side project into one of heavy music’s most exciting experiments. Drummer Matt Wood exited in 2023, making way for Josian Omar Soto Ramos, but the vision stayed laser focused.

Since then, they’ve toured with everyone from Deftones to The Mars Volta and brought their wall of sound live set to Australia in 2024. Fleshwater are currently tearing through the US with Angel Dust and will be back out soon with Chat Pile, a pairing that makes total sense given Jetpack’s grimy, skyward vibe.
