Phoenix’s own Dropout Kings have announced the release of their new album, ‘Yokai’, set to drop digitally on August 8, 2025, via Napalm Records. This record isn’t just another chapter in their rap-metal journey, it’s a tribute to their late frontman and co-founder, Adam Ramey, who tragically passed away in May at just 32.
According to the band, Adam finished work on Yokai just weeks before his passing, describing it as their “most personal and powerful” record yet. Built on the raw fusion of nu-metal and rap that Adam helped pioneer, the album channels not only the band’s trademark aggression but a new emotional depth, the sound of a band grappling with both grief and legacy.
Known for tracks like ‘Virus’, which landed on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts, Dropout Kings are no strangers to intensity. But Yokai promises something heavier than riffs: honest reflection. The band describe the album as “not just entertainment, but a testimony to ambition, struggle, pain and indomitable will.” It’s a final snapshot of a voice that helped shape their identity.

Yokai will land digitally in August, with physical versions set to arrive later in 2025. Napalm Records notes that physical formats will be specially curated to reflect Adam’s creative vision, a reminder that this is more than a release; it’s a memorial.
For fans and friends alike, Yokai stands as both farewell and celebration, a chance to honor Adam Ramey’s legacy through the music he lived for.
