Santa Cruz hardcore crew Drain have just unloaded their second single from upcoming album ‘…Is Your Friend’, but this one hits different. Titled ‘Stealing Happiness From Tomorrow’, the track drops alongside a tour footage heavy music video that pays tribute to drummer Tim Flegal, who’s currently side lined due to cancer treatment.
For a band that lives and dies by their high energy chaos, Flegal’s absence stings. The video doesn’t shy from that fact, it opens with a raw dedication to their long time drummer, pointing out that in 11 years, the man had never missed a single practice, show or tour… until now.

Instead of slowing down, DRAIN do what they do best: blast forward. ‘Stealing Happiness From Tomorrow’ is less a pity anthem and more a defiant pit starter. Crunchy riffs, stomping grooves and breakdowns thick enough to floor you. Even with its message about chasing dreams with your crew, it’s the kind of track that makes you want to two step through a wall.
The video itself is a snapshot of DRAIN’s life on the road including sweaty gigs, rowdy crowds and backstage goofing off. Yet, there’s a bittersweet undercurrent. They carry a cardboard cutout of Flegal from venue to venue, making sure their drummer’s still ‘there’ for every chaotic moment. It’s fun and very heartfelt, perfectly DRAIN.
…IS YOUR FRIEND – November 7, 2025

With ‘…Is Your Friend’ locked in for November 7 via Epitaph Records, DRAIN are setting up what could be their most personal record yet. Between this and previous single ‘Nights Like These’, it’s clear they’re not just making mosh music anymore, they’re leaving pieces of themselves in every track.
