Deftones have officially snapped the silence. Their new single ‘My Mind Is A Mountain’ landed last week, now there’s a video to match, and it’s as heavy as it is stripped back.
Forget elaborate concepts. This is Deftones in a bare room, no frills, no distractions. Chino Moreno stares down the mic like it’s a fight, switching between unhinged howls and whispered confessions while the band locks into one of their most crushing grooves in years. It’s primal and cinematic. Maybe most importantly though, it’s Deftones reminding everyone why they’re still in a league of their own.
Visually, it’s all shadows and menace. The video opens stark in black and white, the band lit like silhouettes of a threat. Red flashes bleed in by the final chorus, a not so subtle reminder that even after five years out of the spotlight, Deftones can still feel dangerous.

‘My Mind Is A Mountain’ is the first proper taste of their upcoming album ‘Private Music’, and it sounds like Deftones have stopped caring what anyone expects. The production’s thick, the drums hit hard and Chino sounds just as on point as ever, it’s heavy without being chaotic.
