David Draiman isn’t holding back. The Disturbed frontman has taken aim at Tom Morello, calling the guitarist’s support of Irish rap group Kneecap “shameful”.
The controversy kicked off after Morello praised Kneecap in a recent Far Out interview, drawing comparisons between the Belfast trio and his former band, Rage Against The Machine. Draiman posted a screenshot of the interview on X (formerly Twitter), accusing Morello of “virtue signalling” and claiming, “Guess my family doesn’t count when it comes to my ‘friend’s’ support for those who incite Jew hatred.”
Kneecap, known for their outspoken support of the Free Palestine movement, made headlines earlier this year after projecting the phrase “F**k Israel, free Palestine” during their set at Coachella. The stunt earned both praise and backlash across the industry. While artists like Tom Morello have publicly backed the group, others including Sharon Osbourne, have called for their US work visas to be revoked. Draiman previously endorsed Osbourne’s stance.
The beef comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Draiman’s own pro-Israel activism. Last year, he was photographed signing missiles for the IDF during a visit to Israeli military bases. A move that continues to fuel criticism online! More recently, Draiman was reportedly booed during a Black Sabbath anniversary show, although he later downplayed the reaction, blaming the “#FreePalestine crowd” for amplifying the incident.
In response to Draiman’s latest attack, Kneecap fired back with a characteristically blunt post on X: “We don’t care what religion anyone is… We love all sound cts.” They also referenced Draiman’s missile controversy directly, calling him “a straight-up ct” for “smiling and signing bombs dropped to murder kids”.
Whether this sparks a deeper rift between Morello and Draiman remains to be seen, but for now, Kneecap’s unapologetic response has only poured fuel on the fire. It seems like there is a lot more to tell in this story and the feud is far from over.
