Police in the U.S. are investigating after a decomposed body was reportedly discovered in a Tesla registered to rising alt-pop artist D4vd.
According to authorities, officers were called to an impound lot after staff noticed a “foul odour” coming from one of the vehicles. On inspection, they discovered human remains inside a bag located in the car’s trunk. Officials confirmed the body was not intact, though further details have not been released.
The vehicle had been abandoned before being towed to the lot days earlier, with the smell only being reported later. Subsequent checks linked the registration back to D4vd.
A spokesperson for the singer told NBC that he remains on tour and is “fully cooperating with authorities” as the investigation unfolds. At this stage, there is no suggestion of his direct involvement in the case.
Born David Anthony Burke, the 19 year old first broke through in 2022 when his tracks ‘Here With Me’ (below) and ‘Romantic Homicide’ exploded on TikTok, eventually leading to a record deal with Darkroom/Interscope Records. His blend of moody bedroom pop and cinematic hooks quickly resonated beyond TikTok trends, landing him spots on festival stages worldwide.
Since then, D4vd has crossed into gaming culture with tracks tied to massive franchises. He penned ‘Remember Me’ for Netflix’s Arcane, the League of Legends animated series, and earlier this year dropped ‘Locked & Loaded’, chosen as the first official anthem for Fortnite. The track is currently blasting as the soundtrack for the 2025 Fortnite Global Championships in Lyon, France.
Withered World Tour
D4vd’s current Withered World Tour has him booked across the U.S., including a scheduled stop in Minneapolis yesterday. Despite the ongoing investigation tied to his vehicle, the shows are continuing as planned, with fans filling venues to hear his mix of low key vulnerability and genre bending production.
For now, police have yet to confirm the identity of the deceased or how the body came to be inside the car. What’s clear is that the bizarre discovery has placed one of Gen Z’s fastest rising stars in the middle of a case no one could have anticipated.
