Chloë Sevigny Apologises For Photo With Marilyn Manson

Share

Chloë Sevigny has issued a public apology after a photo of her with Marilyn Manson surfaced and quickly drew criticism online.

The image, taken in a hotel lobby and briefly shared before being deleted, showed Sevigny standing with Manson and musician filmmaker Jonas. For many fans, her proximity to Manson, who continues to face allegations of abuse and misconduct, was seen as deeply troubling.

Sevigny took to Instagram to address the controversy head on. ‘I’m truly sorry — you’re absolutely right. We unexpectedly ran into MM and Jonas in the lobby of a hotel. We’re both fans of Jonas as both a musician and a filmmaker, and in the moment, I wasn’t thinking clearly,’ she wrote.

She went on to admit that alcohol clouded her judgment that night: ‘I’d had too much to drink and didn’t consider how inappropriate or hurtful it might be to be photographed with MM. I deeply regret the lapse in judgment.’

The apology came quickly after backlash erupted on social media. Sevigny not only issued her statement but also deleted the photo, a move that underscored her recognition of the damage the image could cause.

This latest incident highlights the continued scrutiny surrounding Manson and anyone seen in his orbit. Since multiple women came forward with allegations against him, public association with the musician has become a lightning rod for controversy. For Sevigny, who has long been a cult figure in American indie film and fashion, even a fleeting photo op was enough to trigger intense criticism.

In the hyper connected world of Instagram and X, missteps like these don’t go unnoticed. Sevigny’s quick response, equal parts regret and damage control, shows how little room public figures have when it comes to being linked, even inadvertently, with someone as polarising as Manson.
