Xbox Teases NextGen AMD Powered Consoles, Handhelds + A Future Beyond Hardware

Share

Xbox isn’t done shaking up the gaming world. Microsoft has confirmed that its next generation of consoles and handhelds is officially in the works. As expected, AMD is along for the ride.

In a fresh video drop across Xbox’s channels, Xbox President Sarah Bond laid it out. A multi year deal with AMD will fuel what she calls a portfolio of devices. That means new consoles, handhelds, PC tech and cloud gaming tools designed to play nice together. The big idea? A unified Xbox platform that isn’t chained to your living room, your console or a single storefront.

“This is about building you a gaming platform that’s always with you, so you can play the games you want across devices anywhere you want,” Bond says. “Delivering you an Xbox experience not locked to a single store or tied to one device.”

Microsoft isn’t just chasing horsepower here. The AMD partnership will also focus on next level AI, visual upgrades, and gameplay immersion, across consoles, handhelds, PCs and cloud. Backwards compatibility? That’s staying too, with existing Xbox libraries carrying forward into the next gen experience.

This all follows the reveal of the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally handhelds, which aim to blend a full screen Xbox interface with a custom Windows 11 setup. The handhelds give a glimpse of Xbox’s broader plan :making sure you can access your games, your way.

What’s clear? Microsoft isn’t abandoning hardware, it’s making sure that hardware, software and services work together so Xbox can follow you wherever you game. With Xbox leaning into flexibility, the next few years could reshape how and where we game. Whether you’re on console, PC or cloud, the goal is clear: Xbox wants to meet you on your terms. Big moves ahead!
