Grand Theft Auto VI Hit With Another Delay, Now Dropping November 2026

Share

Rockstar Games has delayed Grand Theft Auto VI once more, confirming a new release date of November 19, 2026. The studio says the extra time will ensure the game’s polish meets expectations.

Fans waiting for Grand Theft Auto VI just got the news nobody wanted to hear, the release has been pushed back another six months, landing on November 19, 2026.

Rockstar Games broke the silence earlier today, confirming the delay with a rare dose of humility. In a statement, the studio said they were ‘sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait,’ but that the extra months would help ensure the game hits the level of polish fans have come to expect.

“Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026. We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve… While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern-day Vice City.”

Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, echoed the sentiment in their quarterly report, saying they were giving the ‘team some additional time to finish the game with the high level of polish players expect and deserve.’

Second official delay

This marks the second official delay for GTA VI, and it’s fair to say the industry is holding its breath. Other studios have reportedly shifted their own release schedules to avoid going head-to-head with what’s set to be one of the biggest game launches in history.

The upcoming title will reportedly return players to Vice City, now reimagined as part of the larger state of Leonida, following two protagonists, Lucia and Jason, in a modern day Bonnie and Clyde style crime saga.

Given Grand Theft Auto V has sold over 220 million copies worldwide since its 2013 release, expectations couldn’t be higher. With Rockstar’s track record though, few doubt that when the time finally comes, GTA VI will make the long wait worth it.
