Spiritbox vocalist Courtney LaPlante just poured petrol on the hype machine, teasing what looks like a Riot Games 2XKO collaboration via Instagram. The clip shows a foxlike figure that screams Ahri energy, set to a distorted slice of new music. Her caption reads: “Our two hearts beat.”
If you’ve been out of the loop, 2XKO is Riot’s two on two, tag based fighter built from League of Legends’ roster. The game exits closed beta and moves into Early Access on October 7, 2025, with progress carrying over from that point on. It’s free to play, and the focus is on tight team mechanics and assists that reward coordination as much as execution.
Ahri is already confirmed for the line-up, complete with high mobility rush down tools and the usual charm infused flair. In other words, the perfect muse for a vocalist who can pivot from glassy melody to throat ripping catharsis in a bar.
Riot’s been busy stitching music deeper into its worlds. Polyphia delivered the official 2XKO theme ‘Let’s Go’ (below) earlier this month, a flashy, finger tapped speedrun that mirrors the game’s airborne scrambles. Riot has a long track record here, Imagine Dragons’ ‘Warriors’ kicked off the Worlds anthem era, Lil Nas X powered 2022 with ‘Star Walkin’’, and Porter Robinson sound tracked Star Guardian with ‘Everything Goes On’. LaPlante sliding into that lineage makes a lot of sense!
No Official Word Yet
Riot hasn’t formally announced a Spiritbox tie in yet, but the timing lines up with 2XKO’s Early Access launch window and Ahri centric marketing beats. If this lands, expect a cut that leans cinematic and heavy on atmosphere, Spiritbox’s calling card, dropped straight into the FGC zeitgeist.
What is 2XKO?
A tag fighter set in Runeterra with LoL champions (Ahri, Yasuo, Darius, Ekko, Illaoi, Braum, Jinx, Vi, Blitzcrank confirmed across playtests/betas), built for online play and seasonal updates starting with Season 0 on October 7.
Watch this space, Courtney’s tease suggests more than a simple repost.
