‘The Strangers: Chapter 2’ Trailer Teases More Masked Mayhem And Home Invasion Hell

Share

The second chapter of The Strangers reboot trilogy is locked and loaded and if the new trailer is anything to go by, things are about to get even bloodier.

Directed by Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, Deep Blue Sea), The Strangers: Chapter 2 picks up directly after the events of Chapter 1. It’s the reimagining of the original 2008 film’s premise with a new couple (played by Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez). The couple are stranded in small town Oregon and stalked by the same emotionless trio of masked psychos. Now, the surviving victim is left alone, hunted again by Dollface, Pin Up Girl and the Man in the Mask. Because apparently trauma’s not enough unless it comes with a butcher’s blade.

Visually

The trailer is steeped in dread and darkness, showcasing Harlin’s flair for slick brutality and sustained tension. If Chapter 1 built the mood, Chapter 2 swings the axe. There are glimpses of claustrophobic hideouts, long silences shattered by violence and the kind of slow burn terror that made the original such a cult hit.

Part 2 In A 3 Part Story

This isn’t a sequel in the traditional sense, it’s the second act in a three part story shot back to back, with Chapter 3 reportedly veering into more experimental territory. For now, though, Chapter 2 looks like it’s doubling down on what fans expect. We’re talking primal fear, no explanations and violence that hits like a hammer to the chest.

The movie promises old school slasher energy without the frills. Just tension, torment and violence with purpose. Fans of the franchise, sharpen your knives, this one’s for the purists. And if you’re new to The Strangers world? Welcome to the nightmare.

The Strangers: Chapter 2 drops in US cinemas on September 26, courtesy of Lionsgate.
