Slapstick’s Back: ‘The Naked Gun’ Tops JustWatch Charts Amid Streaming Shake Up

Share

According to the latest streaming charts from JustWatch, The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! has crashed into the number one movie spot in the U.S. No, you didn’t trip over a banana peel reading that. In a week where horror sequels (Final Destination: Bloodlines), Netflix bangers (Happy Gilmore 2), and indie darlings (The Phoenician Scheme) all jockeyed for space, it was Frank Drebin’s wildly idiotic crime spoof that walked off with the gold badge.

This slapstick revival isn’t random either, with a Naked Gun reboot hitting cinemas August 22. JustWatch is leaning into the hype with a spotlight on the whole franchise, from Drebin’s original disaster investigations to every hilariously botched mission in between. If you’ve never seen a man accidentally expose his genitals at a press conference while trying to dismantle a bomb, you’re in for a treat.
