R-Truth Parts Ways With WWE After Two Decade Run

Share

After more than 20 years of chaos, charisma, and criminally underrated mic work, Ron ‘R-Truth’ Killings has officially parted ways with WWE.

The 52 year old veteran’s exit was confirmed today, ending an era defined by absurd backstage skits, jaw dropping athleticism, and a run with the 24/7 Championship so iconic it practically became his belt. R-Truth might’ve played the fool onscreen, but under the surface, he was one of the most respected locker room presences, someone who managed to stay relevant across multiple eras while never losing that wide eyed spark.

Originally breaking through as K-Kwik in the early 2000s before reinventing himself in TNA (Total Nonstop Action Wrestling), Killings returned to WWE in 2008 and quietly built one of the most surprising second acts in company history. Whether he was main eventing against John Cena or chasing a ref around the building in full clown getup, Truth made everything work. His blend of comedy and raw athleticism earned him a cult following, not to mention a place in the hearts of wrestlers and fans alike.

WWE hasn’t released a formal statement at the time of writing, but Killings’ departure is reportedly mutual. While his in ring appearances slowed following a quad injury in 2022, Truth returned earlier this year and was still showing up in storylines with Judgment Day as recently as May.

Whether this is a full stop or just the end of one chapter, Ron Killings leaves behind a legacy that’s bigger than title reigns or win/loss records. He was the guy who made you laugh, then made you double take with a perfectly timed scissors kick.

No word yet on what’s next, a return to TNA or AEW maybe? Something tells us we haven’t heard the last of the Truth.

And that’s the damn truth.
