Deftones aren’t spending long looking backwards.

Just a day after alternative music circles lit up over reports that recordings connected to the band’s long unreleased Eros sessions had surfaced online, Deftones have shifted the conversation firmly back to the present, announcing the return of Dia De Los Deftones for 2026.

The annual festival will take place on November 7th, 2026 at Petco Park in San Diego, bringing together another genre blurring lineup curated by the Sacramento icons. Joining Deftones this year are The Neighbourhood, AFI, Bktherula, Converge, Jehnny Beth, Ladrones, Lip Critic, and LustSickPuppy.

Eros leak?

The announcement lands at an interesting moment for the band, just yesterday fans were debating reports that recordings allegedly tied to Eros, Deftones’ shelved sixth album, had appeared online nearly two decades after the project was abandoned.

At the time of writing, the authenticity of those recordings has not been publicly confirmed by the band, but rather than revisit unfinished history, Dia De Los Deftones has always represented something different: a snapshot of the music that inspires them now.

Ahead of the festival’s original launch in 2018, frontman Chino Moreno explained the thinking behind the event (per Blabbermouth):

“It’s like putting together a mix tape, but it’s a live show and you can put different artists together in one live setting… It’s a well-rounded event that — even if we weren’t performing at it — I think we’d enjoy going to as music fans.”

Since returning in 2022 after a multi year pause, the festival has become one of the most distinctive artist curated events in heavy and alternative music.

The news also arrives as Deftones continue riding momentum from their latest record, Private Music, released last year and once again produced alongside Nick Raskulinecz, marking their third collaboration together.

If the timing of this announcement says anything, it’s that Deftones remain focused on what comes next rather than reopening old chapters. And if history is any guide, tickets won’t sit around for long.
