Spinal Tap II: The End Continues has landed its first trailer, and the dial’s still cranked to 11. The long awaited follow up to the cult 1984 mockumentary sees Nigel Tufnel, David St Hubbins and Derek Smalls back for one final ride. A farewell gig drenched in the same absurd self importance and over the top riffage that made the original a touchstone for rock satire.

The returning trio, played again by Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer are joined by returning documentarian Marty DiBergi (Rob Reiner, also directing again). He’s back behind the camera to immortalise this so called swan song! In typical Tap fashion, it’s not just the band fumbling through legacy, there’s a stacked line up of cameos adding extra kick: Elton John, Questlove and Paul f**king McCartney all make appearances, injecting real world rock royalty into this beautifully silly universe.
Spinal Tap II: The End Continues Trailer:
Among the trailer’s highlights? Elton John crooning with the band, Paul McCartney talking Tap mythos like it’s sacred scripture, and a truly ridiculous moment where the band replace Stormy Daniels on a bill. Yes, seriously!
Spinal Tap might be a punchline, but the staying power is no joke. After all, how many fake bands can claim to have played Live Earth, Glastonbury and The Simpsons? Whether it’s a love letter to ageing rock egos or a final act of self-parody, this sequel looks set to be as tone deaf and glorious as ever.
One thing is for sure, this one looks like a whole lot of laughs with the cameos absolutely on point, it’s one you’ll definitely have to check out!
Spinal Tap II: The End Continues hits cinemas 12 September in the US and UK and lands in Australia on 25 September.
