‘King Of The Hill’ Revival Hits Hulu August 4 And Yes, Bobby’s Still Weird

Share

Fifteen years after the propane ran dry, King of the Hill is officially back and it’s not just more of the same backyard beers and dad jokes. Dropping August 4 on Hulu, the long awaited revival skips the reboot trend and dives straight into season 14, picking up with the Hills older, weirder, and reluctantly wiser.

Hank and Peggy have been off in Saudi Arabia chasing a retirement dream (and, presumably, arguing over lawncare). Now they’re back in Arlen, Texas, facing a changed world and a hometown that doesn’t run like it used to. Bobby’s not the awkward teen anymore, he’s living large in Dallas as a chef, finally embracing his chaotic energy surrounded by fellow grown up misfits like Connie and Joseph.

The gang’s all here, mostly. Mike Judge returns as Hank and Boomhauer, with Pamela Adlon (Bobby), Kathy Najimy (Peggy), and Stephen Root (Bill) all back in the booth. Johnny Hardwick, who voiced the conspiracy loving Dale, tragically passed in 2023 after recording a handful of episodes. Toby Huss will take over the role mid season.

This isn’t just a nostalgia cash grab, there’s a real sense of time passing. The new intro shows post COVID Arlen, Dale running for mayor (naturally), and Boomhauer, of all people, with a family. Somehow, it still feels like home.

One gut punch, voice actor Jonathan Joss, known for playing John Redcorn, was killed in a Texas shooting on June 1. He’d already recorded for this season and appeared at the ATX TV Festival weeks before his death. His loss will hit hard when the new season airs.

Get ready to rejoin the Hill family, older, maybe wiser, but still awkward as hell.

Season 14 of King of the Hill hits Hulu August 4.
