Tommy Vext Says Bad Wolves Name Was Nearly Sold To Him for $1 Million, Claims Javier Reyes Has Joined The Band

Tommy Vext is back in the spotlight, and this time he’s talking about the future of Bad Wolves, both the version he left behind and the one he’s trying to build with former guitarist Chris Cain.

According to Vext, the pair have spent much of 2025 quietly constructing a new project and even attempted to buy the Bad Wolves name outright. The rumblings started earlier this year when fans noticed a major shift inside the current Bad Wolves lineup.

Doc Coyle and Kyle Konkiel departed in April, followed by Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz jumping ship in June to join Falling In Reverse, that left John Boecklin as the lone founding member, now joined by AJ Rebollo and Kevin Creekman, a combination that instantly raised eyebrows about the band’s direction.

The $1 Million Deal That Didn’t Happen

In new Instagram comments, Vext claimed he and Cain offered Boecklin a $1 million buyout for the Bad Wolves name, according to Vext, Boecklin spent nearly six weeks considering the proposal before turning it down.

“We offered a million dollars for the name back and John changed his mind after six weeks. It was confusing… but we wish him well and good luck with Sarah and Javier!”

The mention of “Javier” appears to reference Animals As Leaders guitarist Javier Reyes, who fans now believe may be part of Boecklin’s updated lineup. Speculation also points to vocalist Sarah JoAnne of anchor.thought joining, though nothing has been confirmed.

Vext added more detail in a follow-up comment:

“The singer is a great vocalist and the new guitarist is from a prog band called Animals As Leaders. I’m sure it’ll be a cool band — I’m just not sure why they’re calling it Bad Wolves when Doc, Kyle, Chris, DL, Max, and I have all left.”

He summarised the turnover bluntly:

“DL quit and joined Falling In Reverse. Doc quit and joined Snot. Kyle got a corporate gig. Chris quit again and formed a new band with me.… now the drummer is the only original member.”

Vext also threw in another parting shot:

“Hopefully the new record kicks ass and they don’t go further woke.”

What Vext Is Building Next

Vext hasn’t named his new band yet, though he previously held auditions in August using Bad Wolves songs as the testing ground. He insisted the project is separate, and recent photos of three unidentified members suggest something is close to fully formed.

Bad Wolves’ history with Vext has been one of the messiest feuds in modern metal, and with these new claims, it doesn’t look like the dust is settling anytime soon.
