Talk Heavy Release New Single ‘Wedding Bands’ Via Ninth Life Records

Share

Brisbane/Meanjin’s Talk Heavy are continuing their rapid rise with the release of ‘Wedding Bands’, a heartfelt new single that leans into the band’s emo and alt-rock roots while showcasing a softer edge. Out now through Ninth Life Records, the track marks their next step following ‘Die 4 U’.

Fresh from supporting U.S. outfits Origami Angel, Free Throw, and Microwave, the quartet are building momentum both on stage and in the studio. With bookings now handled by Destroy All Lines and a growing label presence, Talk Heavy are pushing toward their biggest year yet.

‘Wedding Bands’ was produced in house by vocalist and guitarist Matt Cochran and mastered by renowned engineer Will Yip (Movements, Scowl, L.S. Dunes). Lyrically, it’s one of their most personal efforts to date.

Cochran explains: “It reflects on meeting someone, those early moments, and how they compare to where you are now, looking forward to the rest of your lives. Musically, it pulls influence from Rozwell Kid, Modern Baseball, Joyce Manor, and even Modest Mouse in the lead guitar. I think it tells a strong lyrical story from the daydream of the first verse, to the real time moment of the second verse, into the realization of the outro.”

That sense of emotional storytelling sets ‘Wedding Bands’ apart, moving from nostalgic daydreaming to the raw immediacy of love in motion. It’s another step in Talk Heavy’s evolution, balancing melancholic textures with bursts of urgency.
