Sainthood Reps Return With New Album Dull Bliss

Share

Long Island’s Sainthood Reps are back with their first album in years, and it’s a reminder of why their sound has endured since the late 2000s. Blending grunge grit, shoegaze haze, and post-hardcore urgency, the band have always thrived in the spaces between genres. With Dull Bliss set to arrive on September 26 via Smartpunk Records, they’re proving that their genre mashing approach is just as vital now as it was two decades ago.

The album’s title captures the duality running through the record. The band describe Dull Bliss as an exploration of opposites: moments of monotony and transcendence, quiet despair and euphoric release, all blurred until they feel inseparable. That tension fuels the mood across the track list, balancing shadow and light in ways that feel both nostalgic and current.

Singles

Ahead of the release, Sainthood Reps have dropped two singles, ‘Dizzy’ and ‘Blue Nothing’ (below). The tracks showcase their knack for atmosphere and weight, songs that hum with shoegaze dreaminess but hit with the heft of grunge and post-hardcore. It’s the sound they’ve built their name on, one that resonates with listeners who crave depth and dynamics in equal measure.

Background

Formed by vocalist/guitarist Francesco Montesanto and guitarist Derrick Sherman, the line-up is rounded out by Bradley Cordaro on drums and Jani Zubkovs (also of Incendiary) on bass, with Chris Smith stepping in for live duties. Over the years, Sainthood Reps have shared stages with genre-defining acts like La Dispute, Balance & Composure, Tigers Jaw, Pianos Become the Teeth, and Superheaven. Those connections cemented them as part of the fabric of the 2010s underground, but their return now feels perfectly timed for a new wave of listeners raised on genre blurring rock.

Praise and Pre Orders

Critical praise has followed them throughout their career, with nods from outlets like SPIN, BrooklynVegan, and PunkNews. Dull Bliss looks set to extend that legacy while connecting with the generation discovering shoegaze and post-hardcore through today’s streaming rabbit holes.

Sainthood Reps may have emerged from the Long Island scene nearly 20 years ago, but their music has never felt more relevant. Dull Bliss arrives September 26 via Smartpunk Records.
