The creative partnership was forged during their joint U.S. run, where Barnett and Paleface vocalist Marc “Zelli” Zellweger began writing together. Produced by the band’s manager Marco Bayati and mixed by Florent Salfati of Landmvrks, ‘Instrument of War’ strikes with the sheer weight of Paleface’s brutal sound while weaving in Barnett’s raw delivery.
The title itself draws from a Pablo Picasso quote, shared by Barnett while on tour, “No, painting is not done to decorate apartments. It is an instrument of war for attack and defence against the enemy.” That philosophy bled directly into the song and its music video, directed by manager Kriss Jakob, reinforcing the track’s unflinching call to arms.
Doctors Without Borders
‘Instrument of War’ isn’t just about music, every cent from the single’s proceeds will go to Doctors Without Borders, supporting medical relief in conflict zones. The band has also launched a limited-edition charity T-shirt, with 100% of profits donated to the same cause.

As Zelli and Barnett put it, “Our music isn’t just some sht to put on in the background. It’s something real that comes from a real place, and it’s meant to attack the things that divide us and defend all the things that bring us together.”*
