Being a rock icon doesn’t mean you ever stop looking over your shoulder, for Nikki Sixx that reality has become unavoidable.
The Mötley Crüe bassist has revealed he stopped sharing photos of his family online after repeated stalking incidents and direct threats escalated into something far more serious.
The comments surfaced during a recent exchange on social media, after a fan asked why Sixx no longer posts photos of his daughter, Ruby.
His response made it clear the decision wasn’t about privacy preferences, it was about safety.
“Because we’ve been stalked and our family has been threatened multiple times the last few years. Some are in jail now but Ruby doesn’t need to be exposed to millions of people, mostly cool fans but she is more important to us than posting photos and from experience, it’s proven to not be safe for her.”
Sixx has spent decades in the public eye, but the line between fandom and fixation has blurred enough times to force real world consequences, while most fans respect boundaries it only takes a handful of people willing to cross them to create serious danger.
That risk has led Sixx to take decisive action, living on private property in Wyoming he’s made it clear that protecting his family isn’t symbolic or performative, it’s literal.
“We have strong law enforcement relationships (as well as lawyers who have put stalkers in jail) but we also live in Wyoming on private property and we are locked and loaded and know our rights to protect our family. Nothing in my life matters more than my family.”
The comments sparked predictable reactions online, but they also underscored a reality many fans prefer not to confront, celebrity doesn’t erase vulnerability, in some cases, it magnifies it.
For Sixx, social media engagement, visibility, and access all come second to one thing, keeping his family safe and no tours, legacy or audience matter more than that.
